There are three good choices left for browsers.

  1. Firefox (most stable, most well maintained, available on mobile): https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
  2. Librewolf (indie fork of Firefox, even more focused on privacy/security, not available on mobile): https://librewolf.net/
  3. Tor (version of Firefox with a built in VPN. Available on mobile. I use this primarily to download epubs etc. Social media sites will probably flag the vpn and not let you log in. The vpn only works in-browser, not in other applications like torrent apps.): https://www.torproject.org/download/

All of these will let you install add-ons made for Firefox. The mobile apps do too.

All three will let you import your bookmarks, saved passwords, and history from Chrome or any other browser.

If you are using any other browser, it’s almost definitely Chromium based. Making the switch is easy and will almost definitely take less than 5 mins.

Please use the uBlock Origin add-on as well.

If you’re using Dashboard Unfucker for Tumblr you will probably need to install something like ViolentMonkey and set it up in the new browser.

I also personally use the Dark Reader add-on in all three of these browsers. It makes a dark mode option for sites that don’t have one built in.

Feel free to send asks to this blog if you have any trouble getting set up. It’s usually a straightforward process that takes less than 5 mins even on a slow machine.

My therapist just told me my problem is that I need to write more fanfiction.

This sounds fake but the logic behind it is actually really interesting? She said obsession with a new fandom triggers quick dopamine release when we consume all this related content–it’s easy and addictive.

What we’re NOT getting is that ‘slow dopamine’ that’s more sustainable and engaging. That’s the kind we get from DOING things that take effort but are ultimately rewarding.

So like, she suggested that writing fic and making fanart are ways to balance the quick dopamine of watching a show/reading fic with the slow dopamine of working at something that takes effort.

Moral of the story is you should engage in the process of creation around your favorite things. You’ll feel better for it.

Oh.

OH.

One of my FAVOURITE ship dynamics to write or read in fics is when two characters are basically already a couple but they just haven’t realised it yet. They call each other up at like 3am, they cuddle, they sleep in the same bed, they fall asleep in each other’s arms, they hold hands, they practically live together, they talk about having a ~ special connection ~, they just haven’t actually kissed or done the do or talked about their feelings yet so they’re still both like “but I just don’t know if they like me in that way!!”

Less slow burn and more two idiots standing around literally on fire from page one but not noticing until page two hundred.
